Paul Howard

Paul was born in England and raised in Montreal. He attended Queen’s University for both his undergraduate and law degrees and played Varsity basketball throughout his time at Queens. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1976. More About... Paul moved to Smiths Falls where he started the practice which was then known as McLean and Howard with the now Honourable Mr. Justice Hugh McLean. As "Senior" partner, Paul’s practice consists of real estate, estates, land development, corporate and commercial. Paul still, however, carries on an extensive matrimonial practice and as well practices in the area of municipal law having several major municipal clients. Paul has been very involved in the local community having been a town councillor for eight years and having been involved with the local hospital from 1988 to present. He has been chair of the hospital board on two different occasions and has served in most capacities, most recently being chair of fund raising for the redevelopment of the Smiths Falls site of the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. He has also been on a number of health related committees at the Kingston General Hospital and a director for three years. As well, he has served with numerous other organizations in the community. Paul lives in Smiths Falls with his wife Donna who is an executive with the Bank of Canada. They have three children, Shannon who presently lives in Africa working for the United Nations, Andrew and Jordan who are both presently attending McGill University.
